The project “Bhutanese Kids on their Toes” is initiated by the “Bhutan Amateur Athletic Federation” (BAAF) and is especially aimed at giving kids from poor, rural areasthe possibility to participate actively in athletics. It is part of the nationwide “Athletics at schools project”. The BAAF would like to bring sports closer to school children. Hereby, they are targeting basic building blocks of athletics like running, jumping and throwing.
The athletics program “Bhutanese kids on their toes” will include 200 school kids between 7 and 20 from all 20 districts of Bhutan. Through exercise and competition, the children are supposed to build self-confidence, set goals for themselves and learn how to win and lose. It is about developing team spirit and growing up together in a health environment, strengthening the immune system, improving dexterity and most importantly – having fun! Also, it is about supporting drug prevention outspokenly.
KENIAL e.V. would like to support the 200 kids. Yet, not through monetary donations but more direct by supplying sports clothing. One of the cornerstones of the NGO is bringing the equipment to the kids in person. Direct and personal. The list of the missing pieces is a long one: Trainers, T-Shirts, functional clothing, hardshell jackets, hats, socks, backpacks, sports bottles and towels.
